Did Destiny 2 ship with Beyond Light? This is how players see it so far
Destiny 2 recently released the new Beyond Light expansion. But how has it been received so far? What do the players say? We sum up the mood around Beyond Light after the first few days.
What is Beyond Light about? Beyond Light is the newest expansion for Destiny 2, now launching on November 10.
This was highly anticipated by many because it brings, among other things, a new story, new equipment, a new location, and cool new powers for the Guardians.
Now that numerous Guardians have made their way through the new content and got a first look at Beyond Light, the plugin is now being diligently discussed.
The long wait has finally come to an end.
How does Beyond Light arrive after the first days?
Here's the mood: Overall, many see the new expansion as divided. There is certainly praise, but also a lot of criticism.
The basic tenor that resonates here is: Beyond Light is a nice extension on its own, but with some bad or at least questionable design decisions, it spoils the experience for some.
Praise yourself: Much of the content in the new expansion is well received by players.
- The new exotics are great. Those who have been able to play so far are well received.
- The new stasis powers offer many new possibilities and are really fun, at least in PvE. More on PvP later.
- The new soundtrack is well received.
- Many find Europe's new icy scene, with its snowstorms and mysteries, fantastic.
- New enemy units provide an extra breath of fresh air.
- Some people find the story itself quite exciting.
- The fresh start for new players is well done and better than the chaotic old start.

Here's a criticism: But there are also criticisms and, unfortunately, many. At first, many were still in honeymoon mode, but the more you fight for new content and spend time in Destiny, the more negative points become noticeable.
- Even if the start was successful, it was also extremely bumpy.
- After launch, many gamers still complain about performance issues on PC.
- The effects of the sunset, that is to say, the so-called ceasefire, are now really remarkable. A large portion of the previous weapons was rendered useless for the new content, but there is simply too little new to make up for this fact. This should improve in the future with new equipment, but the current state is considered by many to be unsustainable.
- In general, the diversity of new weapons is criticized. For example, Forsaken put 98 legendary/exotic weapons into play, according to the data, while Beyond Light only has 31 so far.
- Except for the armor parts, there were no dealers' updates, so the respective new armor is only reskinned with each other.
- The legendaries that appear regularly in the game world are basically the same as last season.
- Overall, Destiny 2 currently offers very few new loots as a shooter with a focus on loot.
- The new powers are welcomed by many in PvE, but stasis breaks PvP and is currently completely ruining the experience for many players there.
- The Forsaken and Shadowkeep expansions currently have an additional cost, but initially, all of their equipment, with the exception of raids, was affected by the sunset. The gear you get in regular activities can no longer be used effectively in new content or core activities.
- The free play experience now offers a good introduction but hardly any meaningful content. New Light lost a lot of that with the appearance of Beyond Light.
- If you're done with Beyond the Light, Destiny 2 currently simply offers very little content for an action MMO, according to some players. And even if the content is good, how long will it last?
In Brief: As great as Beyond Light is with much of its news content, some design decisions put a damper on the fun for many and currently overshadow all the positives that the new expansion brings. Especially the lack of a lot of content, the sunset, and not enough new things in return, many seasoned players seem to struggle with that. For new players, this is less of a problem.
The mood could improve in the coming days and weeks. After all, Season 12 doesn't really start until next week, and it should also provide variety, even if this isn't part of Beyond Light. Also, the new raid into the deep stone crypt starts next week, which will also bring one or another new weapon or armor.
Overall though, the current mood is: Beyond Light brings a lot of good but also some bad, so the bad at least outshines, if not outweighs, the positives for some. One has definitely delivered. But whether this will be enough and for how long remains to be seen. In any case, shortly after the start, not everyone is happy.
Guardian, now it's your turn.
What do you say? How do you see the new expansion after the first few days? Has it convinced you, and are you having fun with it? Still not sure what to think? Are you disappointed and maybe even regret the purchase?

You are welcome to share your detailed opinion with InafGo readers and us in the comments.
By the way, the next few days and weeks should be important for Destiny 2. Because for some, Destiny 2 stands and falls with its new expansion Beyond Light. It will be exciting to see if you can convince players in the long run.
Our editor-in-chief Gerd Schuhmann has already addressed this topic: Destiny 2 has been promising us the future for 6 years; it has to come now. Otherwise, it's over.
