I'd love to play Diablo 3 Season 22, but the date is stupid for Blizzard fans
The start of Season 22 in Diablo 3 is a joy to our editor, Patrick Freese. But for him, it should have come a week earlier.
For years I have been playing Diablo 3 Seasons regularly, and I am always right at first. It's still a feast for me when all my friends are suddenly online in the Diablo world, and they all start from 0 together.
What is the problem? The new season 22 begins on November 20. The Diablo team has officially announced this. For me and some other Blizzard fans, the date is not good at all.
Because on November 24, the Shadowlands add-on for World of Warcraft begins. And I'm sorry, but I definitely won't miss the start. And I probably won't be the only Blizzard gamer now having to choose between these two events.
Season 22 will only last me a few days, and I think it's a shame.
What makes season 22 special? For each new season of Diablo 3, the developers create something that makes them special. Usually, these are special bonuses that have a significant impact on the game.
Enter S22
- Shadow clones
- a fourth place in the Kanai cube
- Many balance changes
- New items
- All new games at Haedrigs Gifts
All content for Diablo 3 Season 22 and Patch 2.6.10 can be found here. This is content that I want to see again.
What is different this time? I usually play a season of Diablo 3 for about two to three weeks extensively, and then it degrades a bit day by day. Cool pets like this one from season 20 are my motivation to finish the season. After that, I come back every few days and work on my team or play in a new class.
But all of this will be much shorter this time. When Shadowlands starts on Tuesday (and the servers are up), I'll switch to the game and stay there for a few weeks.
For me, a start to the season in Diablo 3 a week earlier would have been much better. Then I would have experienced the beginning extensively; I could have sunk a few hours into it, and then when the first hype is over, I could have made a pilgrimage to Shadowlands without a guilty conscience. But no, this time, I'll probably cancel the season after about four days. It's a shame.
Since you have to try the content from season 22, that's cool.
Why am I going to WoW?
Nostalgia, friends, community - WoW is an old love of mine. I wasn't playing Classic back then, but I started with the first add-on, Burning Crusade. This was because practically everyone played it, and my best friend said that I should try it at least once. So his brother was there too, suddenly I found myself in a guild, and there was this feeling of connection.
Since then, it has been an on and off relationship between WoW and myself. I come back regularly with a monthly subscription, see what happened in the latest patch, level up some youngsters with friends, and have fun.
But I've never missed an additional release. I love when the starting areas are full of players because everyone is trying the "new." Everyone explores together what Blizzard has created for the WoW community. What crazy NPCs were created, and what story they have to tell. My friends, who have already played Burning Crusade with me, are waiting for me again.
And sorry, Diablo 3. But a new season can't really keep up with the beginning of WoW: Shadowlands for me. So there is no need to ask who will get my attention.
Are you still undecided? 5 things you should know before buying WoW Shadowlands
Isn't both possible? I was wondering if I could play both at the same time. And yes, I can play something else besides a season of Diablo. But nothing as deep as an expansion in World of Warcraft. It just devours all my attention.
Sure, when WoW servers are full of overhead and huge queues like in WoW Classic, then it's worth a detour to the world of hack and slays. But otherwise? That will probably only take a few weeks until I poke my nose back into Diablo 3 after starting Shadowlands.
How is it with you? Do you play Diablo 3 and WoW, and now you have this decision before you, or is WoW completely indifferent to you, and will you completely sink into Diablo 3? Or do you even play both? Please write to us in the comments here on InafGo.
