PlayStation 5: How to Charge the PS5 Controller

The PlayStation 5 is finally happening. The next generation is here, and it's big… literally, the consoles are huge. While many things are different with the new consoles, some remain the same. Here is our guide for how to charge your PS5 controller.

How to charge the PS5 controller

The PS5 Dual Sense controller is quite different from the PS4 model. It has a slightly different shape, a new coat of paint, and most of all, the new haptic feedback triggers intended to improve immersion in various games that support it.

That being said, the process for loading drivers is the same. You have two options, like the last generation. You can connect your controller to the PS5 using the USB charging cable that came with the console/controller (or a third party if you've lost it).

Or you can buy a charging station that is usually plugged into a wall outlet for power. You can choose one made by Sony or go for a third party once it starts to spread.

Don't forget to load your controller. With haptic feedback enabled, you can burn the controller's battery a bit faster than on the PS4, so make sure to keep those PS5 controllers charged.

Also, consider turning off your controller when you're not using it but want to leave the PS5 on for some reason. I've probably destroyed the battery life on my PS4 controllers by leaving it overnight while letting Hulu run in the background.

That's all you need to know for how to charge your PS5 controller. Try to stay on top, so you never run out of energy in the middle of a game!
