Pokémon GO is testing a new EP system: players expect a higher maximum level
In Pokémon GO, the first tests on a new EP system will begin today, November 9. These will take place initially for one week and only in Australia and New Zealand. Some players hope these adjustments are the first sign of a new high.
What is happening there? As announced by Niantic, a particular test will be held from November 9-16. Selected instructors from Australia and New Zealand experiment with an adapted EP system.
Almost every area of the game is said to be affected by the changes, including:
- Catching pokemon
- Evolving pokemon
- Hatching of eggs
However, Niantic has yet to reveal what the changes will look like. Down Under players are frequently asked accordingly. But so far, no coach has reported who has had an adjustment.
Why are we interested in this? Niantic promised bonus items during trials that players can find in the daily free box. However, they come for all gamers globally and not just those who are testing the new EP system.
Also, the tweaks could indicate that the max level will be increased in Pokémon GO soon.
Players see trials as an indication of level 50
How do the players react? There are several comments on the Reddit post about the test that assume the settings will be used for a new maximum level:
- User Copycatcabra writes: "If that's not the clearest example that an increase in the level cap is imminent ..."
- User DonzaRS responds to Copycatcabra that he expects the new level to launch in mid-December.
- FizzingSin assumes a next level 50, even if it has never been officially confirmed: "I'm so excited about level 50".
- Hillside126, on the other hand, doesn't see a direct connection: "The wording is so vague that they describe it as a rebalancing that doesn't seem to be related to raising the level cap to 50. I'm not sure what the point of changing the amount is. Of XP obtained from the above ways ".
Hillside126 refers to the old information we have about a new high. This should differ from previous experience at level 40.
What do we know about a new maximum level?
- Niantic announced in 2019 that they were working on a new Max level. However, there should be no simple increase in XP
- In spring 2020, data miners found rewards for levels 41 to 50
- In July 2020, Niantic already gave more details and explained that leveling up after level 40 feels different than before.
- In October, a new leak showed special tasks that could be used to level.
With Special Tasks, leveling from level 40 could differ greatly from the previous system. Still, the changes to the EP system could have something to do with a new maximum level.
Many gamers no longer know what to do in PoGO and take a break like our author Noah Struthoff or Relaxo.
However, many players would like a raise because they have been at level 40 for a few years, including DLPrivateServer editor Noah Struthoff. He's even been taking a break from Pokémon GO lately:
I've been playing Pokémon GO for years, so I'm taking a break right now.
