What is Destiny 2: Beyond Light, and where is the DLC taking us?

Beyond Light marks the beginning of Year 4 of Destiny 2. The story takes the Guardians to the unknown ice moon of Europa. Many old friends left with us for the DLC location:

  • The famous exo-stranger (stranger) hasn't had time for us since Destiny 1.
  • Eris Morn rushes to help the stranger and continues her fight against the darkness in Europe.
  • The seedy tramp is the third character to play a major role in Beyond Light.

This is what the DLC's story offers: The three battles with our help against the forces of darkness, which are led in Europe by Eramis. The Fallen is the new Kell of Darkness and the new main villain of the story. Your host will change into darkness and can use the new stasis item.

Ancient laboratory complexes from the Golden Age await beneath the snowstorm-ridden surface of Europe. Vex inhabits the research facility. Here we also enter the new raid, the legendary deep stone crypt, and explore the origin of the exo-race.

Is there a preload for Beyond Light, and how big is the DLC?

Can I start the download before launch? Yes! You can download the expansion on all platforms before its release on November 10, 2020.

  • On PlayStation 4, all Guardians can do it from November 9. Download the required patch 3.0.0.1.
  • Xbox One lets you start preloading on November 10; You can download the patch starting at 4:00 am tomorrow morning.
  • On PC (Steam), preloading will also start on November 10 at 4:00 am
  • You can find more about it here: Preload for Destiny 2 Beyond Light started on PS4 - What about Xbox and PC?

On November 10, you set foot in Europe.

Along with preload, Destiny's servers will go offline in the morning hours of November 10. If you still want to prepare, you have to hurry.

If you still have last-minute questions to prepare, DLPrivateServer has summarized the most important things here:

Destiny 2: tier accumulation and rewards for Beyond Light, is it worth it?

How big is Beyond Light on my hard drive? Preload is 60 to 70 GB depending on the platform. That's roughly the size of Destiny 2: Beyond Light on its hard drives.

This significantly reduces the space required on your consoles and PC by 30-40%. Destiny 2 currently occupies a little over 100GB on Playstation 4. But this is also associated with a full reinstall of the game, which is why the preload is so extensive.

The book beyond the Light: what editions are there?

What edition should I buy? If you want to play the new expansion, you have several different versions to choose from. The DLC is included in each edition, but you can also receive other extras such as seasons or cosmetic items.

These editions are available:

  • Destiny 2: Beyond Light - Standard (€ 39.99)
    • This version offers all nine DLC, but nothing more.
  • Destiny 2: Beyond the Light - Standard + Season (€ 49.99)
    • Here is the DLC again
    • you also get full access to the current Season
    • Also included is the Stranger's Weapon Pack ("No Time to Explain" Exotic Weapon and corresponding catalyst)
  • Destiny 2: Beyond Light - Deluxe Edition (€ 69.99)
    • All the content and extras above are included; add to that
    • The 4 seasons from year 4 (until fall 2021)
    • On top of that comes the Stranger Upgrade Pack (Exotic Sparrow "Any Other Horizon" and an Exotic Adornment for "No Time to Explain") and the Exotic "Touch Means Freeze" gesture *

Additionally, the Beyond Light expansion is included in Xbox Game Pass, as are the Forsaken and Shadowkeep expansion. The game pass does not give you access to season 12 or the next Season's content, which you must then purchase additionally.

Whether you get the versions digitally or physically, there is no difference in scope. Until launch, all pre computers will have an exotic "Frosted Crystal Ghost Shell" and a Legendary Badge available immediately after purchase.

The various Collector's Editions are no longer available. They came with numerous physical objects, such as history books or a bag.

What does Season 12 - Season of the Hunt offers?

At the same time as Beyond Light, Destiny 2: The Season of Hunt's 12th Season begins on November 10. You can buy them separately (around € 10) or get an additional version of Beyond Light.

  • The story of season 12 takes you together with Osiris and Spider against the crowd and Oryx's sister.
  • There is a new ally who was our mortal enemy until recently.
  • Much of the Season's content is also available to non-paying Guardians, including the fresh start at the Cosmodrome.
  • Each Season brings a new season pass (with premium and free tracks) and a season artifact to level up.
  • According to Bungie, seasonal content should offer less Fomo, so it should be valid for longer, and you should be able to lose less permanently. Season 12 end date is February 2021; then season 13 begins, still unknown.

What is stasis, and what can the new classes do?

One of the highlights of Beyond Light is the new Stasis classes. This is the first time in 6 years that the solar, arc, and vacuum elements are growing.

The new powers are very reminiscent of ice magic from other games. You can freeze opponents, break them into a thousand splinters, and slow them down. You can even create barriers or new platforms to cross chasms from the ice.

See details on the new classes, including trailers, here:

  • Warlock - the Shadowbinder
  • Titan - the colossus
  • Hunter - The Revenant

Stasis is the first power that does not come from Light but from the darkness. In the future, more new super new will come into play. These are also listed separately on the menu alongside our popular lighting classes. So we have to choose the path for our tutors, but we can change at any time without consequences, don't worry.

The skill trees for Stasis classes are different from those for known items. You have more freedom to customize and are not divided into 3 approaches. You can find more about this here: Destiny 2 completely changes how your subclasses work in Beyond Light.

What new features and changes are coming to the DLC?

With the new expansion, Destiny is also turning upside down. Here we show you important changes.

  • With Beyond Light, players get a whole new location: Europe and can re-enter the updated Cosmodrome from Destiny 1, but at the same time, the game is reduced by 5 locations.
  • The content that disappears goes to the so-called Destiny Content Vault (content vault). The content is kept there and can then be returned in a new form
  • The Loot Shooter May Bring Back Destiny 1 Highlights Via Content Vaul: The Relaunch Of The Cult Raid "Glass Chamber" Is Firmly Planned
  • All the players have a new beginning; there, the new guardians know the daily life of the guardians in the Cosmodrome; veterans can also play missions at the Cosmodrome.
  • Now you can get vintage exotics that you lost at the newsstand
  • Forsaken's known Gambit mode is being completely overhauled: from Beyond Light, you no longer have Gambit and Gambit Prime, but just a PvEvP mode - pick the cherry on the cake of both variants, so to speak.

If you haven't been in Destiny 2 for a long time, here's a review to keep you up to date and give your opinion:

These are not all changes. In Beyond Light, you can also expect a sandbox overhaul, numerous perks and nerfs, and a controversial ceasefire.

What can Destiny 2: Beyond Light do on PS5 and Xbox Series X?

Destiny 2 can also be played on the new Sony consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. from Microsoft.

Here's what Destiny can do in Next-Gen: It benefits from numerous enhancements, such as

  • Faster loading times
  • finally 60 FPS
  • 4K resolution
  • Customizable field of view
  • Cross-Generation Play - PS4 Guardians can hang out alongside players on PS5; the same applies to Xbox Guardians

Some of the enhancements will be available for release on November 10, but the big next-gen update won't be released until December 8.

DLPrivateServer has the Destiny 2 loading times comparison on PS5 and Xbox Series X here.
