Lights go out at Old Destiny 2 destinations as seasonal live event concludes

Destiny 2's second season live event took place tonight and was a bit more complicated than last season's Almighty Event. Players were invited to a previously inaccessible area of the Tower to watch the Travelers wriggle and heal to provide the Guardians with sufficient cover from the Darkness.

Like the live event before, it was mostly a lot of sitting and watching, but at least this time, it went down a bit faster and was more interesting to watch. If nothing else, you have to run through a new area of the Tower with acceleration.

The event started in earnest with a new mission that invited players to the Tower above area. You could run and take a look at the Traveler from here. The energy swirled around the Tower, and it was quite beautiful to see.

Here's a photograph of the Traveler I took during the printed of a well-liked Destiny 2 YouTuber, Aztecross, who had a perfect view. Before the players were moved to the new area, it was essentially the same look for a while, getting more and more intense.

Eventually, the Traveler's pulse would still increase, and Eris Morn began to speak about how the Traveler could also be gathering power to undertake and drive the Darkness away. Considering everything we already know about Beyond Light, we know that's not the case.

Shortly after, Destiny 2 players have kicked off the server, but not before a cutscene on the Director's screen showing the areas being removed from the game: Mars, Mercury, Titan, and Ominous Darkening the Traveler and presumably activating again to protect the remaining areas.

Overall, it was a neat and proper way to end the Shadowkeep era and begin Destiny 2's adventures in Europe starting tomorrow when Beyond Light is formally released.

If you'd like to see how it ended, check out what's new from Aztecross here. I have linked a timestamp that cuts to the last moments before the server crashes and when Eris Morn starts speaking.
